For Students & Supervisees

I have a great passion for providing clinical supervision. As a guiding principle, I seek to make as much positive change in the world as possible. Through an integration of discrimination and developmental models, I aim to support, shape, and teach fellow clinicians how to be the best helpers possible, thus putting more well trained therapists into our community.

I have been providing clinical supervision since 2013 and have been an Approved Clinical Supervisor since 2016. I have experience supervising all education levels from graduate students to fully licensed counselors and social workers.

Additionally, I have been in program management since 2014 and can provide support with time management, business/ programming strategy, and leadership development. Please see more on my professional experiences in my LinkedIn or resume.

Some of my overall goals as a clinical supervisor are:

  • Create a safe space to develop clinical confidence
  • Increase insight into clinical process and one’s own role as a counselor
  • Provide guidance regarding challenging clinical cases as well as support in working within stressful situations
  • Promote ethical care from a multicultural and trauma informed perspective
  • Encourage congruent and genuine care through the development of one’s clinical identity
  • Provide tools for self care, burn out reduction, and healthy work and life balance

I am truly dedicated to supporting every counselor in becoming not only an outstanding professional, but a fulfilled human being. Below are some kind words written by past supervisees.

Kristy Champignon is truly a gift to the world of supervision! Her talent lies in not only providing sound clinical feedback to her supervisee’s but in taking time to get to know the individual to support professional growth in ways that are in line with their values and strengths. Kristy is thoughtful, compassionate and goes above and beyond in her role as a supervisor. Kristy provided me with a space where I was able to learn and challenge myself to become a better clinician.  She has sharp clinical skills, a relatable sense of humor and is the most encouraging supervisor I have had the privilege of working with (not to mention her awesome book recommendations). Kristy is truly a CHAMPignon supervisor!

I had the privilege of having Kristy as my clinical supervisor while I pursued my LPC. Kristy had the unique approach of challenging me with the balance of logic and emotion. Whenever I would feel stuck with a case she helped me see a dialectical approach that gave me the alternative perspective and confidence to treat my patient. Kristy has a delicate but firm approach to her supervision. I always felt safe discussing my case load and mental health with Kristy, while knowing she was going to challenge me so I could live up to my full potential. Kristy is an advocate for self-compassion and self-care and that needs to be constantly pushed in the therapeutic field. With Kristy’s guidance I have felt myself grow as a professional and person. Kristy is warm and incredibly intelligent and will go above and beyond to create a safe atmosphere for you to process and focus on your efforts as you treat those who look to you for support.
