Getting Started
Setting up services
Congratulations on taking your first steps towards increasing your health and wellness. Starting a therapeutic relationship can sometimes feel like a harrowing process. So let’s break it down and make it easier! In this section, you will find transparent and practical guide points to starting in our services.
Connect
In our first contact, I’d love to know more about you and how I can help. There’s a couple ways we can connect. You can connect with me via phone or email. After I hear from you, I’ll reach out directly to take some basic information and share my thoughts on how we might best work together. After, I’ll then send you an invitation to the client portal to complete your initial paperwork. This initial meeting is absolutely free to you!
You can also now book directly online using my client portal! This secure system allows you to book, complete paperwork, submit and receive important documents, submit payment, and receive reminders about your appointments.
Initial evaluation
Within our first in-person meeting, I will conduct a comprehensive evaluation. I know this may sound intense but it’s nothing to be scared of! I’ll ask to know more about what you’ve been experiencing, your history, your concerns, etc. We’ll also use that time to discuss your goals, passions, and strengths. I’ll encourage you to ask me lots of questions as well since this meeting will really help you get to know me, too! At the end of the meeting, we’ll discuss a plan for moving forward with counseling (e.g. frequency of session) and create some shared goals for your wellness.
Sessions
After the initial evaluation, we will set a plan to have sessions on a regular scheduled basis. This may be twice weekly, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly depending on your unique goals. Scheduling can be done via email, phone, or text. If you need to cancel a session, a minimum of 24 hours notice needs to be communicated. Please click to see more on this policy.

Insurance reimbursement
As an out-of-network provider, a significant amount of my service fees may be applicable for reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits coverage. I am happy to look at your out-of-network plan to help you determine to what coverage you may be entitled. As a new parent, you may have already met your deductible due to care throughout your pregnancy and delivery of your little one. Therefore, your out-of-network payments to me (or any OON provider) may be covered or significantly reduced! Feel free to ask me more about this when we do our initial screening.
If you’d like to submit your payments for OON reimbursement, I can easily provide a superbill. Please contact your insurance provider to verify OON submission requirements.
Getting ready for the therapeutic process
I know it might sound funny but a common question I hear people ask is: what do I wear to my first therapy appointment?
When you think of it, the question really does make sense though. If this is your first time going to counseling, it truly is like uncharted territory! Here are some tips on getting ready for your first counseling session:
- Be comfortable (both in dress and in spirit!)
- Bring whatever supplies make you feel prepared: bottle of water, notebook for questions, diaper bag, etc. I will have supplies on hand but it never hurts to bring items you’d prefer.
- Test your tech ahead of time. Find a private space (or as private as you can) where you feel comfortable and has a dependable wifi connection.
- Give yourself permission to be vulnerable and embrace possible awkward moments. They’re normal and will pass as we get to know each other!
- Stay committed to focusing on you and your wellbeing
